Need a mid-week break from the
summer heat?
Join the fun at our Wednesday Evening Paddle Party.
Do hope you will consider joining us for some informal paddling fun.
Hope to see you on the water,
Shack George
Every Wednesday
evening until the end of September we will again be meeting
at the Atlantic County Park, Lake Lenape, Mays Landing, NJ from 5:30 till
dark. Take advantage of wonderful weather and low midweek
traffic to meet at the lake early, enjoy the picnic and camping facilities,
explore the lake or enjoy a down river trip, and then join us for
informal instruction or to test paddle new boats. There is; no fee, ample
parking, rest rooms, showers, shaded tables, benches and barbecue pits.Touring the north end of the lake at sunset has wonderful rewards.
The Northeast corner has a shallow cove - Turtle Cove - Besides the
multitude of turtles in the water, we have seen a few really large turtles
seemingly playing "King of the Hill" sunning themselves atop their
brethren. Approach slowly and quietly for an interesting close up view.
Wading birds such as Great Blue Herons and Egrets are seen along the
evergreen lined shore banks.
Proceeding up river a short distance toward the fallen pine that used to
hold the Bald Eagles nest beavers have greeted us with loud tail slaps as we pass by. Even
the river otters have been saying hello on occasion. The white swamp azaleas
are in bloom thru August and the fragrance is intoxicating.
Southern end lake activities include instruction, practice and test
paddles.
Both new and experienced paddlers who wish to improve their skill levels
enjoy the formal and informal instruction and tips offered by fellow
paddlers and ACA accredited instructors who are available (by prior request)
for private instruction.
Test paddle a new boat or enjoy a rental boat for
the evening. Rentals and test paddle boats are available by prior request.
Rentals include boat, PFD, paddle, equipment transportation to & from Lake
Lenape. Rental rates: $25 per single person kayak or canoe, $35 per two
person kayak.
See you on the water!
