The Paddle Shack sponsors historical tours of the Great Egg Harbor River. You will be surprised with how much local color and history is traced along the banks of the Great Egg. Your guide will relate interesting facts and folk lore on a leisurely paddle through time.

 

Historic Mays Landing Waterfront,

Weymouth Furnace to Lake Lenape.

                                                              

The tour package includes every thing you need to ensure a safe and fun journey. Knowledgeable guides, kayak, paddle, pocketed paddling PFD.

 

Complimentary instruction on how to safely enter, exit and handle your kayak will insure an enjoyable, easy and safe experience for even those who have never paddled before.  

 

This is a great combination of fun paddling and history lore that even the youngsters will enjoy! Don't delay, reserve your spot today. 

 

Bring your own liquid and munchies, sun screen and bug repellent.
A polypro shirt or jacket in case you get chilled is recommended, as are waterproof dry bags for any items you wish to keep dry.

Fee: $75  Experienced paddling guide, kayak, paddle, PFD.

 

Trip Duration: Allow 4 to 5 hours for a total trip of about 7 miles.

           

 

Historical Mays Landing:
Journey along the tidal portion of the Great Egg Harbor River from the "bulkhead" to Lenape Lake Dam and South to the wreck of the Weymouth. Learn interesting facts and fantastic fables, including the infamous silver mine story. Visit the wharf where three masted schooners once moored, if time and tide allow, see the sunken bones of the 1862 coastal schooner Weymouth in her final resting place.

 

Weymouth Furnace to Lake Lenape:
Once a beautiful plantation with a prosperous iron works, and later a glass works, the Weymouth Furnace area has some enchanting ruins and interesting stories. Journey down river crossing along the path of the old tram railway that once brought wares to coastal schooners waiting at the dock "in town".
